Grant County Board of Education
Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment are the key components to a quality school system. Curriculum comprises the material that is taught. Grant County's district curriculum is based on Kentucky's Core Content. Instruction is the manner in which the material is taught. Grant County teachers are involved in on-going professional development to provide our students with the most effective instructional methods. Assessment is the way that student learning is evaluated. In Grant County, that occurs both in formal (standardized) method and informal (classroom) manner.

Grant County Schools Career and Technical Education Center |
 |
Realizing the constantly changing face of the marketplace, Grant County Schools has committed to preparing its students for life-long learning and productive citizenship. Leading the way in this progressive approach to education is the new Grant County Schools Career and Technical Education Center currently under construction. The $9.4 million facility, built adjacent to our existing high school, will allow students to take a variety of elective courses as part of their high school career. Students may seamlessly integrate Math and Welding or English and Pre-engineering as they pursue high school credit, dual college credit, and/or certifications in various fields. The GC Tech center will be one of only a few in the state to offer 4-year programs in its fields of study.
The curriculum offered will include two programs affiliated with “Project Lead the Way” and the University of Kentucky. These two programs, Bio-Medical Science and Pre-Engineering are designed to foster interest in advanced math and sciences and to encourage the pursuit of post-secondary degrees in these areas. All other programs will offer options for completing certification in their respective areas or for pursuing more advanced training. These areas include: Information Technology, Health Services, Auto Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Welding Technology.
Grant County Schools is very excited to add these programs of study to its already excellent core of academic offerings. We feel it is our role and our responsibility to prepare our youth with a sure foundation of knowledge and skills that will enable them to be not only productive contributors, but also leaders in the world around them.
